Hello, and welcome to my blog! Some of you may already know me as Carrielovesfashion from my other blog. Before I start, I would like to say hello to all of my old readers who have come over here to my new blog and all my new readers too! I have been inactive in the blogging community for a couple of years now and I would like get back into the swing of things by writing a small series of blog posts about the time I spent recently in one of Earth's most undiscovered paradises, Reunion Island. If you would like to learn more about this beautiful place, then keep on reading!

An Introduction to Reunion Island

I spent 2 months in Reunion Island this year in 2015 (from April to June). As a Canadian this was an amazing adventure for me. Not very many people from North America venture to this stunning destination so I would like to share my photos and experiences there with the world to show everyone what a spectacular place Reunion really is.

Some General Information about Reunion Island

Reunion Island is an Island in the Indian Ocean located East of Madagascar which is located off the coast of Africa. The Island is a Department of France which means it is owned and governed by the French. Therefore they share many similarities with the French such as the same flag, using the Euro currency and most people on the island are French speaking. The main language spoken in Reunion island is Reunion Creole but the official language of the island is French.

Reunion has an amazing history and culture with so much to explore there. From the flora and fauna to the beautiful sea side beaches and mountain views this place is sure to please anyone who wishes to make the journey there.

The climate is very tropical and many flowers and fruits thrive there during their growing seasons. Because it is an island most of the wildlife you will see there is from the sea or the air.

The people of Reunion Island share a diversity of different ethnic and cultural backgrounds. This creates a very unique culture on the island that is like no other. Such diversity can be seen in things such as the food that is eaten there and the clothing different people wear.

The island is rather small with a population of under one million people covering 2,512 square kilometers. However just because the island is small, that does not mean there is a lack of things to do! Some popular activities people and tourists on the island might enjoy are mountain hiking, swimming in the sea (where it is safe to), wind surfing, scuba-diving, shopping, fine dining and so much more. There is an abundance of wonderful places to eat and lovely things to see. There is also a night life scene for those who enjoy dancing and music. Festivals are also a popular thing on the island.
